Green Building Education – Green Building Features

Energy Performance
The building maintained a high level of energy efficiency, with an Energy Intensity of 43.85 thousand British thermal units per square foot per year. This value represents the total amount of energy used for each square foot of the building, including electricity and natural gas. The building continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to optimizing energy use and implementing strategies that support ongoing reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Water Efficiency
High-efficiency plumbing fixtures contributed to low water consumption, with the building using an average of 12.61 gallons of water per square foot annually. This result continues the positive trend of improving water efficiency.
Materials & Resources
The building’s waste management program continues to support responsible material handling and landfill diversion. During the performance period, the overall waste diversion rate was approximately 30 percent, meaning one-third of operational waste was recycled or composted.
Indoor Environmental Quality
The building maintained strong indoor environmental quality, with an average Occupant Satisfaction rating categorized as “Satisfied.” Indoor air quality testing showed an average carbon dioxide concentration of 740 parts per million and an average maximum total volatile organic compound concentration of 383 micrograms per cubic meter.
Location & Transportation
One third of building occupants reported using sustainable transportation options. These included carpooling, public transit such as buses and trains, alternative fuel vehicles, and active transportation methods such as walking or biking.
